THE HISTORY OF CEPU

                The legenndary folktale from Cepu told that the the origin of Cepu derived from the battle between Adipati Tedjo Bendoro ( Tuban ) and Adipati Djati Koesoema ( Bofonegoro ).

                Once upon time, Adipati Djati Koesoema defeated the battle so that he must give over all his properties and his sons or daughters as the commission because if his defeat. Unfortunatelly, his daughter, Princess Retno Sari  broke the promise. She escaped from the kingdom .  

                The escape of his daughter made Adipati Djati Koesoema felt greedly  sothat he threw away his bow toward the princess. According to the folktale the bow directed to the princess’ thigh or in Javanesse it is called “pupu”.  Adipati Djati Koesoema s bow is named “ Cempulung “ . Based on the name of “Cempulung “ and “ Pupu “ it becomes the origin of “CEPU”.

                In this National era, Cepu has been the escaped place for ex Madiun Indonesin Communist Party ( PKI). Fortunatelly, it can be annihilated ( ditumpas ) by Ronggolawe Division which is lead by GPH Dipokusumo. The name of Ronggolawe and Dipokusumo has been the icon of Cepu. Besides Ronggolawe has been also used as the name of the biggest square in Cepu ( Ronggolawe Square ), the name of STTR ( Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Ronggolawe ) and the name of monument in Cepu ( Ronggolawe Monument ).
